PM Modi Launches Vande Bharat From Srinagar Post Pahalgam Attack

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now been slated to flag off the first Vande Bharat train to Srinagar and thus, open the first-ever rail connectivity to the Kashmir Valley. PM Modi Launches Vande Bharat From Srinagar Post Pahalgam Attack and while India is still conducting Operation Sindoor, which is significant.

PM Modi Launches Vande Bharat

1. A Historic Milestone for Rail
This Vande Bharat Express will also complete the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Project (USBRL) that connects Katra to Srinagar. The Vande Bharat train will connect Katra to Srinagar and thus rail connect to the Kashmir Valley.

2. PM Modis First Visit to J&K since Operation Sindoor
This launch will be PM Modi’s first visit to J&K since India’s precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack of April 22, 2023, which killed 26 Indians on holiday in J&K.
3. The Vande Bharat Train
This Vande Bharat train can travel in severe weather conditions with heating systems, anti-spall layers, and automatic doors. Also, it will run across the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River and India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge at Anji Khad.

4. Impact of the Railway on Tourism and Connectivity
The new railway link will help promote tourism and trade in Jammu and Kashmir, as traveling by train is faster and more reliable than traveling by road, especially for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims who are frequently stalled on the road by landslides.

5. Security Audits and Infrastructure Investments
After the Pahalgam attack, security audits were done of the railway line. Police presence has increased along the railway line, with additional police personnel and other surveillance measures put into place to make sure that passengers are safe.

PM Modi’s launch of the Vande Bharat Express to Srinagar is a turning point for India’s railway networks and regional connectivity. This project is designed to support economic development, tourism prospects, and security in Jammu and Kashmir.
