Meerut Farmer Wakes Up to 100 Snakes in House, Locals Shocked

100 Snakes in House: In a shocking incident from Simouli village in Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh, over 100 snakes were discovered in the house of a local farmer, triggering panic and chaos among villagers. The incident has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention and concern.

The incident that shocked the villagers

Mahfooz Saifi, a farmer residing in Simouli, lives with his family in a modest village home while cultivating crops on his agricultural land. On Sunday night, he spotted a snake in the backyard. Fearing it might enter the house, he killed it immediately. However, to his horror, more snakes began emerging—eventually totaling over a hundred.

Overwhelmed and terrified, Saifi screamed for help. Hearing his cries, villagers rushed to the spot and were stunned to witness dozens of snakes slithering in and around the house. Acting on impulse and fear, the locals began attacking the reptiles with sticks, stones, and anything else they could find. In the ensuing chaos, around 50 snakes were killed while the remaining managed to escape. The dead snakes were later buried in a pit.

Videos of the incident, filmed by onlookers, quickly surfaced on social media, going viral and sparking fear and curiosity among viewers. Many commented on the terrifying nature of the scene.

The viral footage also caught the attention of forest officials. Meerut Forest Divisional Officer Rajesh Kumar confirmed that the snakes found in the house were non-venomous and protected under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. He stated that those killed by villagers also belonged to non-venomous species. An investigation is currently underway to understand how and why so many snakes appeared at once.

The incident has sparked a broader conversation about human-wildlife conflict and the importance of awareness regarding protected species—even those that appear threatening.
