Stolen: Talk about Abhishek Banerjee’s Stolen is rife on the internet. Because of its gripping plot, thrilling action, and outstanding performances by the actors, the recently released movie on Amazon Prime has been the talk of the town. If you’ve watched the film or even just the trailer, you probably wonder if it’s a true story. Let’s be clear: the Karbi Anglong lynching case in Assam in 2018 served as inspiration.
Assam’s Karbi Anglong Lynching Case:
Two men, Nilotpal Das and Abhijit Nath, were reportedly traveling in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district. At the same time, a WhatsApp rumor about child kidnappers had spread throughout the state’s villages. There was a rumor that kidnappers were active in the vicinity. The locals attacked these two individuals because they thought so.
The locals dragged Niloptal and Abhijit out of their car and beat them to death with sticks and stones, even though they begged in front of the mob and made a valiant effort to prove their innocence. In addition, the attackers captured the horrific scenario on camera, and the harrowing and distressing footage went viral, igniting a nationwide outcry.
Director’s view on this story:
In an interview, the director stated that Stolen, his first feature film, is based on actual events that took place in the Karbi Anglong region of Assam. After acknowledging that this experience had traumatized him, Tejpal started his investigation. He disclosed that this encounter served as the catalyst for his decision to steal.

Plot & Cast:
Anurag Kashyap, Kiran Rao, Nikkhil Advani, and Vikramaditya Motwane are among the executive producers of Stolen. Gaurav Dhingra is the producer and Karan Tejpal is the director of the movie. Shubham Vardhan, Abhishek Banerjee, Harish Khanna, Mia Maelzer, and Sahidur Rahaman are among the cast members.
Shubham portrays Raman Bansal, and Abhishek portrays Gautam Bansal, the brothers who go in search of the missing infant. Mia Maelzer portrays Jhumpa, the mother of the kidnapped child. Since its June 4th release on Amazon Prime, Stolen has grown in popularity among viewers.
