Russia to Provide Advanced Fighter Jets to India

Russia to Provide Advanced Fighter Jets to India

Russia: In the context of China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh becoming a spearhead for India, we now need advanced weapons and military equipment. In this context, the world has seen how the S-400 air defense systems provided by Russia have worked effectively in preventing the recent drone and air attacks by Pakistan. Russia has recently come up with new proposals to provide advanced fighter jets to India. It has come up with a proposal to provide the source code of Russia’s advanced fifth-generation fighter aircraft, the Su-57E, to India.

Experts say that this proposal will further boost the development of indigenous fifth-generation fighter aircraft manufactured by India as part of the Make in India program. However, with the possibility of America’s CATSA imposing sanctions on this deal, it has become extremely interesting to see what decision India will take now.

In the context of the current modern wars being completely dependent on technology, fifth-generation fighter jets are becoming essential for India. In such a situation, Russia’s proposal to provide the source code of the Su-57E fighter jet to India is encouraging India as it will give a boost to Make in India. So far, only the US, Russia and China are manufacturing their own fifth-generation fighter aircraft. In this context, India has also started an indigenous fighter jet development project. Experts say that this deal offer from Russia at such a time is like a game changer for the Indian defense sector.

Russia’s Brahmastra: Su-57E source code offered

As the threat to India from China and Pakistan is increasing day by day, it is noteworthy that Russia has proposed to provide the source code of its state-of-the-art fifth-generation fighter aircraft Su-57E. Providing the source code of this Su-57E fighter aircraft to India will become crucial in the development of an indigenous stealth fighter jet. This deal made by Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation has currently become a hot topic of discussion in defense circles. It seems that Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation has also proposed to manufacture these fighter jets in India under the Make in India program.

Why is this source code crucial?

Source code is very crucial for fighter jets, missiles or any defense equipment. This source code is linked to every bomb and missile that operates from that fighter jet. To equip a fighter jet with all types of weapons, the source code must be known. It is already possible to launch bombs like Scalp missiles and Hammer from Rafale fighter jets that India has purchased from France. However, to launch missiles like Akash made with indigenous technology, the Rafale source code must be known. During the recent attacks with Pakistan.. It seems that France did not provide the source code related to the Rafale fighter jets even though India asked for it.

What is America’s attitude?

How the US will respond to Russia’s offer of fifth-generation fighter jets to India has now become a serious question mark. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Washington this year, Donald Trump offered India the US-made fifth-generation fighter jet F-35. However, Lockheed Martin, which manufactures it, has not given any clarity on the transfer of technology to the Make in India program. Experts believe that if India signs a deal to buy Su-57Es from Russia, the US is likely to threaten sanctions under the CATSA Act. It is noteworthy that the US has refused to share the full source code of the F-35 fighter jet even with allies like Britain and Australia.

India needs fifth-generation fighter jets

India currently needs fifth-generation fighter jets. China already has stealth fighter jets like the J-20 and FC-31. To compete with these, India will need similar fifth-generation fighter jets from Russia or the US. On the other hand, China is ready to provide its advanced fighter jets to Pakistan as well.
