Telangana Brand Rice to Hit Markets Soon: Govt to Sell Premium Varieties

Telangana Brand Rice: As the production of fine rice in Telangana is exceeding the state’s requirements, the Civil Supplies Corporation has come up with an innovative plan to utilize the surplus rice. It has been decided to mill the surplus rice and release it into the market as quality rice under the name ‘Telangana Brand’. It has been decided to mill and sell high-demand fine rice varieties like BPT, RNR, and Jai Shri Ram. Currently, the Civil Supplies Corporation has specially stored this type of rice.

To Hit Markets Soon

A huge amount of fine grains has reached the purchasing centers in Telangana during the monsoon and Yasangi seasons. Compared to the Yasangi crop, the yield of fine grains is less in the monsoon crop. Due to this, the quality of rice is better. For this reason, the rice produced with the monsoon paddy will be sold under the name ‘Telangana Brand’ , said Civil Supplies Commissioner DS Chauhan . Officials believe that this will provide an incentive for farmers to get a good support price and higher yields.

Govt to Sell Premium Varieties

Telangana brand rice will be sold not only in supermarkets and grocery stores but also in ration shops in the state. Currently, free rice is being distributed to those with Food Security Card (Tella Card). The government has already announced that Above Poverty Line (APL) cards will soon be issued to those living above the poverty line. These APL cardholders will be able to buy the ‘Telangana brand’ rice they need from ration shops at a slightly lower price than the market price. Officials believe that this will help the middle class in urban and rural areas get quality rice at an affordable price.

Officials have already started working on the price of rice sold under the name ‘Telangana Brand’. They are currently examining the prices of various types of rice in the market. It takes at least six months to a year to earn money if the rice is sold to the Food Corporation of India (FCI). But senior officials estimate that by directly selling rice under the Telangana brand, income can be generated quickly. Moreover, the Civil Supplies Department is preparing extensive plans to sell this rice in other states as well. Officials believe that this will not only bring recognition to the brand across the country, but will also strengthen the state’s economy.
