Bharat Bandh Today:
On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the Maoist Party called for a Bharat Bandh across several states in India. This bandh (nationwide shutdown) was announced as a protest against the killing of Maoist Central Committee Secretary Nambala Keshav Rao in an encounter. As a result, security forces declared a high alert along the Telangana and Chhattisgarh border.
In response to the bandh call, intensive search operations were conducted in various sensitive regions. Particularly, in Mulugu district of Telangana, areas like Venkatapuram and Wazedu mandals witnessed cordon and search operations. Security forces are keeping a close watch on movement in Agency areas, also known as AOB (Andhra-Odisha Border).
The police have issued strict warnings to the public not to support or assist Maoists in any way. These measures are being taken to prevent any violent retaliation from Maoist groups during the bandh. In Seetharampuram village, under the supervision of Eturnagaram ASP Shivam Upadhyay, large-scale searches were carried out. According to intelligence sources, there are possibilities of revenge attacks, and hence the combing operations have been intensified.
The Maoist Party has termed May 21st, the day of the encounter, as a “dark day in revolutionary history”, fueling more tension in the region.
Residents in the border areas are advised to remain cautious and cooperate with the police. Vehicles are being checked, and temporary check-posts have been installed across routes connecting Telangana and Chhattisgarh.
The bandh is expected to affect normal life in remote tribal areas. Schools and public transport may remain closed in some pockets. Authorities are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of civilians and maintain law and order.
