iPhone 17: Apple is reportedly set to introduce fast wireless charging in its upcoming iPhone 17 series. According to reports, Apple is developing new MagSafe chargers that will enable high-speed wireless charging on the next-generation iPhone models. These chargers will support the Qi2.2 wireless charging standard, allowing up to 50W wireless charging on iPhone 17 series smartphones.
According to Gadgets360.com, citing 91Mobiles, two new MagSafe chargers (model numbers A3502 and A3503) have been spotted on the website of Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC). Both chargers appear to resemble the current MagSafe models, with the only difference between them being the length of the braided cable — the A3502 comes with a 1-meter braided cable, while the A3503 features a 2-meter braided cable.
These new chargers will support the Qi2.2 wireless charging standard, which is expected to be announced soon by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). Qi2.2 chargers can deliver up to 45W of power output. With this technology, the iPhone 17 series can offer wireless charging speeds of up to 50W, providing users with significantly faster wireless charging.
Reports also suggest that older iPhone models may support the Qi2.2 standard to some extent. While the iPhone 17 series will benefit the most from this new technology, the chargers will also be compatible with iPhones ranging from the iPhone 11 to iPhone 16 series. This means older users will still be able to enjoy somewhat faster charging and better magnetic alignment.
Currently, Apple’s MagSafe chargers support up to 15W of wireless charging under the Qi2 standard. The iPhone 16 series supports up to 25W wireless charging but is limited to the Qi2.1 standard.
