Meghalaya honeymoon murder:
A shocking murder case has emerged from Meghalaya where a man named Raja Raghuvanshi, a businessman from Indore, was allegedly killed during his honeymoon by his wife, Sonam. The couple had gone missing on May 24, and ten days later, Raja’s body was found in a deep gorge. Sonam was later found alone at a dhaba in Ghazipur on June 9.
Police have arrested five people in connection with this case. Sonam has been named the main accused. Reports suggest that she offered ₹20 lakh to four others to kill her husband. The accused are Raj Singh Kushwaha (allegedly her boyfriend), Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi.
Sonam reportedly acted as if she was tired and walked behind her husband before instructing the killers to act. While in custody, she claimed she was kidnapped and said she was innocent. However, she has been sent on transit remand to Shillong for further investigation.
Police believe Raj Kushwaha played a key role in planning the murder from outside. Akash Rajput was caught in Lalitpur and is just 19 years old. Vishal Singh was arrested from Indore, and clothes he wore in Shillong were recovered. His phone is still missing. Anand Kurmi, the fifth accused, is from Bina.
A local guide from Sohra, Albert Pde, identified one of the suspects and said he was glad the criminals were arrested. He felt that this would help protect the reputation of the local people.
This case has shocked the nation, as it unfolded during what was supposed to be a romantic honeymoon.
