The country’s largest aquarium will soon be set up. This tunnel aquarium will be built on the outskirts of the city with a public-private partnership at a cost of Rs. 350 crore. While the decision to set up this aquarium in Kotwalguda Eco Park has been taken, HMDA officials have invited global tenders.
The company that wins the bid in the tenders will be entrusted with the management of this project for 30 years under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model. HMDA will develop an eco-park in 150 acres at Kotwalguda. HMDA officials have decided to construct a huge tunnel aquarium in an area of five acres in this park itself. Currently, such tunnel aquariums are attracting tourists in Science City in Ahmedabad and Chennai Marine Park.
The officials who inspected those aquariums decided to set up a tunnel aquarium with world-class features, unlike them. Tenders have already been invited, and the deadline for submitting tenders has been set for the end of May. First, the technical bids will be examined, and then the price bid will be opened. HANDA officials revealed that the qualified company will be selected from it. HANDA officials clarified that the company that gets the work will have to complete the project within the next two years.
Various types of tunnels will be constructed in the aquarium at an angle of 180 degrees, 100 meters long and 3.5 feet wide. These will be designed so that tourists entering the tunnel will feel like they have gone into the depths of the sea. Three thousand million liter capacity tanks will be set up to fill the water brought from the seas and rivers. Apart from sharks and dolphins, about a thousand types of marine life will be raised in this aquarium.
A restaurant, dome theater, 7D, VR theaters and other modern amenities will be provided inside the aquarium. Special halls will be set up for celebrations like birthdays and marriages. Wooden cottages will be built nearby for tourists coming from abroad and other states to stay. Since it is a hilly area, adventure activities like bungee jumping and trekking will be additionally arranged.
