Hyderabad Rain Alert: Hyderabad residents, get ready. The city is in for a stormy and wet week ahead. With the southwest monsoon making an onset in full swing, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted rain and thunderstorms every day up to June 18, along with overcast skies and humid weather conditions. Here’s all that you must know to stay safe and prepared.
Between June 12 and June 18, Hyderabad will see frequent rain showers during the afternoons and evenings, with many of them being followed by lightning and thunder.The daytime temperatures will be around 31–32°C, while nighttime temperatures will be warm and humid at 24–26°C.
Although the rains have temporarily alleviated some of the summer’s intense heat, they are causing major traffic issues, power shortages, and waterlogging in LB Nagar, Kukatpally and Mehdipatnam, along with some other whole areas of town.
Waterlogging: Low-lying roads and major junctions are prone to waterlogging. Avoid any unnecessary movements while it’s raining.
Traffic Delays: The traffic will be exceptionally bad during the rush hours-allow enough of an allowance and remain on course using navigation apps and alternative routes as much as possible.
Health Risks: The rise in humidity, and accumulation particularly of water risk illnesses brought on seasonally by humidity and water–bring your mosquito-spray repellent and drink plenty of water while outside, especially once the rains stop.
Power Supplies: A number of reports are coming through on intermittent power cuts in areas–have your battery backup emergency lights ready to use if needed.
A raincoat or an umbrella is a good idea while travelling outside.
Do not wade through flooded streets to avoid infection or accidents.
