Air India Changes Profile Pic to Mourn Crash Victims

Air India: Shortly after its London-bound aircraft crashed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Air India updated its social media profile pictures. The airline replaced its usual red-and-white emblem and golden window frame with a black circle on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. An Air India-operated Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 232 passengers and 10 crew members, crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad airport for London.


Passenger Details:

The flight carried 242 people, including 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese citizens. It took off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad at 1:38 p.m. However, it failed to gain lift at a dangerously low altitude of just 825 feet. Aviation specialist Sanjay Lazar told the media that the aircraft couldn’t climb. Emergency responders are transporting the injured to the nearest medical facilities.


What Happened at Ahmedabad Airport:

The plane crashed within a minute of takeoff. Most of the parts of plane were burnt. The cause is not yet clear. It crashed in a residential area within a minute of takeoff. Flight radar data shows that the signal was lost at an altitude of 625 feet.

The plane crashed in the Meghani area, a residential area. The Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was flying from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to London’s Gatwick Airport when it crashed. Initial information is that there were 242 passengers on board. The plane, which had a capacity of 300 passengers, crashed. Media reports said the plane was loaded with a large amount of fuel for the long-haul flight, which may have contributed to the explosion and fire that followed the crash. Multiple fire engines and ambulances have been dispatched to the crash site for rescue operations.
