1. Over-Cleansing Your Face
Washing your face more than twice a day can deplete the skin of its natural oils. This stimulates the sebaceous glands to make even more oil, resulting in clogged pores and more breakouts. Use a gentle cleanser twice a day and do not use hard scrubbing.


2. Using Harsh or Drying Products
Most treatments for acne contain alcohol or harsh acids that dry out your skin. This irritation not only gets worse but also makes acne worse rather than curing it. Choose products with balanced content such as salicylic acid, niacinamide, or benzoyl peroxide in slight concentrations.

3. Skipping Moisturizer
Even oily or acne skin requires moisture. Omitting moisturizer causes dehydration, and your skin will overproduce oil to make up for it. Opt for a non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores), oil-free moisturizer to maintain your skin’s balance.

4. Touching Your Face Too Much
Recurrent touching spreads oil and bacteria from your hands to your face. This not only aggravates acne but also transmits it to other locations. Avoid your hands and fingers touching your face and do not pop or pick on pimples.

5. Having Too Many Products at Once
Stacking several treatments for acne can make your skin irritated, leading to redness, dryness, and worse breakouts. Use a plain routine and let each product take effect—at least 4 to 6 weeks—before adding something new.

6. Not Changing Pillowcases Often
Pillowcases gather oil, grime, and germs from your hair and skin. Sleeping on dirty cloth can cause constant breakouts. Wash your pillowcase every 2–3 days if you have acne-prone or oily skin.

7. Not Using Sunscreen
Leaving out sunscreen causes dark spots, delayed healing, and inflamed acne. Wear a light, gel-based sunscreen that is non-comedogenic and for acne skin.
