Gujarat ATS Recovers Crucial DVR from Air India Crash Debris

DVR from Air India Crash: From the wreckage of the Air India aircraft that crashed in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon, killing all but one of the passengers and crew, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad has retrieved a Digital Video Recorder (DVR).

“We have retrieved a DVR from the wreckage. A member of the ATS staff informed reporters that the FSL team will be visiting shortly. An aircraft’s DVR is a specialized system made to record, store, and control video from cameras mounted within the aircraft. Security, training, operational evaluations, and adherence to aviation safety regulations all depend on these technologies.

Traditional Flight Data Recorders (FDRs) and Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVRs) record instrument measurements and audio, respectively, for crash investigations, whereas DVRs concentrate on video. Air India reported after midnight on Friday that 12 crew members and 241 other passengers on board Boeing 787-8 flight 171 have perished in the fatal Ahmedabad plane crash.

In the meantime, following the Air India plane disaster, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with officials at the Ahmedabad airport to examine the situation. The images depict Prime Minister Narendra Modi presiding over the meeting as the officials inform him of the mishap. A day after the AI-171 flight headed for London Gatwick crashed just after taking off from Ahmedabad International Airport, PM Modi visited the site of the Air India airline crash earlier on Friday and assessed the ground situation.

PM Modi Response:
The Prime Minister shared an X post with the caption, “Today I visited the crash scene in Ahmedabad. It is a heartbreaking image of destruction. In the wake of the incident, Met officials and teams are working nonstop. We are still thinking of the people who lost loved ones in this unfathomable catastrophe.

The Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad is currently conducting a DNA sampling procedure to identify the deceased passengers of the Air India 171 flight.

Home Minister Response:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah met Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday and received a detailed briefing about the incident. Shah stated that the intense heat from the over 125,000 liters of fuel that burned inside the aircraft left no chance of survival in the London-bound Air India plane crash.

He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and explained that authorities will officially confirm the death toll only after completing DNA testing. Shah added that officials have already conducted nearly 1,000 DNA tests so far.
