Taxpayers must pay at least 15% of their total tax by June 15, 45% by September 15, 75% by December 15, and the full 100% by March 15. The Income Tax Department has laid out these instalment deadlines clearly, as shown in the table below.
Taxpayers must pay the first instalment of advance tax for the financial year 2025–26 by today, June 15. The Income Tax Department issued a reminder via a post on X, stating that this payment is mandatory for individuals whose accounts require auditing under Section 44AB. The department urged taxpayers to “make a smart plan” and pay their advance tax on time.
The X post read: “Pay Advance Tax. The due date for the 1st instalment of the Tax for FY 2025–26 is 15th June 2025.” However, the department clarified that taxpayers can still file their income tax returns by the extended deadline, September 15 this year, instead of the usual July 31, provided they pay the full tax liability along with applicable interest for delayed payment.
