Hyderabad Metro Rail gained the acknowledgment of possessing a great commitment to passenger safety and operational excellence. ET Infra Railway Safety Excellence Award of the Year was awarded at the ET Infra Rail Show 2025 held in New Delhi as a recognition for its initiative toward Indian metro infrastructure. Hyderabad Metro Rail bags National Safety Excellence Award.

The award by Economic Times is a reflection of Hyderabad Metro’s dedication towards risk reduction, safety, and use of advanced technology. The metro has always prioritized the comfort of commuters through the adoption of robust safety practices and out-of-the-box thinking.

During the awards ceremony, KVB Reddy, Managing Director – L&T Limited (L&TMRHL), reaffirmed that safety is not a destination or a philosophy, but a process, and a philosophy by which all decisions and innovations must be guided1. He gave a positive report to the success of the metro in terms of punctuality, customer satisfaction and utilization of technology for operate effectively.
2. Panel Presentation on Future of Urban Rail
Mr. Reddy participated in a panel presentation at event entitled “Future of Urban metro and Smart Stations – Transforming Urban Mobility.”He provided the vision of Hyderabad Metro for the future of public transport in the city, and challenges with respect to the metro’s infrastructure, and need for support on policy aspects of metro systems.

Hyderabad Metro Rail faced obstacles such as inordinate delays for tenants to receive statutory and other policy clearances associated with project changes, and issues with assuring funding.
