Aamir Khan’s new film Sitaare Zameen Par hit theatres across India today, June 20, 2025. The emotionally charged sports drama explores inclusion, empathy, and personal growth—backed by a bold production journey.
Ahead of release, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggested five key modifications. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Aamir Khan initially refused to implement the changes, citing concerns over the creative integrity of the project.
However, following discussions, the film was officially cleared and granted a U/A certificate. The final certified version includes all modifications as directed by the CBFC.
One of the most talked-about changes is the addition of a quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the film’s disclaimer. The exact content of the quote has not been made public, but it follows directly after the film’s new voice-over disclaimer.
The five official changes include:
“Business woman” replaced with “business person”
“Michael Jackson” changed to “Lovebirds” in subtitles
Visual and subtitle removal of the word “kamal” (lotus)
Text disclaimer replaced with a 26-second voice-over
Addition of PM Modi’s quote in the opening
Aamir Khan Films complied with all revisions.
