In an interview with the media today, renowned director Ram Gopal Varma confirmed his presence in Hyderabad and refuted claims that he is in hiding. Regarding the cases filed against him in Andhra Pradesh, Varma said that if he were caught, he would cooperate completely, take advantage of the chance to make friends with other prisoners, and even develop screenplays for movies while incarcerated.

Varma complained about the dramatization in the media over his arrest. According to him, some people have asked why he hasn’t been caught yet. He pointed out that lawsuits were brought against him a year after his social media posts were said to have upset some people, highlighting the timing of the accusations. “Why did it take so long for people to react to my posts?” he questioned.

The director brushed aside unfounded reports that he was assisted in avoiding capture by stars Prakash Raj and Nagarjuna. “No police officer has confirmed such a search,” he said, mocking stories that showed police looking for him in Coimbatore and Kerala.

Varma justified his social media activity by pointing out that memes and cartoons are common even in nations like the USA and are examples of free expression. “Every individual interprets art differently,” he stated, criticizing media outlets for sensationalizing stories using his cartoons.
