Gachibowli Stadium Stampede: The International Yoga Day 2025 event at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad took a tense turn after a moment of panic occurred shortly after the mass gathering. The event started with many thousands of school and college students performing yoga together. All of which was largely tame except for the scuffles after the event near the area where snacks were being distributed.
The story of chaos at Gate 2: What actually occurred
According to reports, the commotion began as soon as the yoga was finished and the organizers began to serve food to participants. A huge throng proceeded to Gate 2 as students rushed to pickup food. The lack of a proper queue, mass gathering procedures led to students pushing and shoving their way to food.
As the mess grew, a girl fainted and panic took hold. Many of the participants thought a stampede was unfolding and so panic was permeating the trove. Fortunately police and volunteers worked quickly to calm the throng and call medical assistance for the girl who fainted.
The student who fainted was, it is suggested, simply overwhelmed by the heat and crowd pressure. The medical staff on-site responded promptly and she had regained consciousness soon thereafter. It is now confirmed that there was no actual stampede, only a fleeting scare caused by poor crowd management.
This incident has raised questions about the ability and preparation of the organizers to conduct the crowd effectively. Although the event was a success due to attendance and enthusiasm of the participants. The amount of chaos could have been avoided. If the delivery and distribution of food had been managed properly, instead of unexpectantly throwing open the doors of fury. Attendees noted that the severe lack of lines, communication, or guidance to facilitate crowds G2 unnecessarily caused risk for younger students in attendance.

While, fortunately, there were no serious injuries reported from the stampede-type situation after the event.
