PM Modi Leads Yoga Day 2025 as Vizag Eyes World Record

PM Narendra Modi led the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations from the shores of RK Beach in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on June 21, 2025. With the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, the event drew over 2.7 lakh participants, aiming to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest yoga session.

Yoga for Humanity 2.0

In his address, PM Modi described yoga as “the pause button humanity needs to breathe, to balance, and to become whole again.” He urged the global community to adopt “Yoga for Humanity 2.0,” where inner peace becomes global policy.

He called for yoga to become a tool for diplomacy, cooperation, and sustainable living, not just personal wellness. Modi encouraged countries to integrate yoga into lifestyle and public health policy.

Record-Breaking Ambitions in Andhra Pradesh

The state, under CM Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, launched the ‘Yogandhra Abhiyan’, aiming to involve 2 crore people in yoga events across one lakh locations.

Already, 25,000 tribal students set a Guinness World Record by performing Suryanamaskar together a day before Yoga Day.

India’s Push for Scientific Validation

PM Modi highlighted India’s commitment to evidence-based yoga therapy. Institutes like AIIMS have researched yoga’s benefits in treating cardiac, neurological, and women’s health issues, validating its relevance in modern medicine.

Vizag’s Historic Moment

The main event featured a flypast by the Eastern Naval Command and a 45-minute yoga session. Officials confirmed that over 1.5 lakh volunteers were present by 5:45 AM, with more arriving by 7:00 AM to support the record attempt.

A Call for Global Balance

PM Modi’s message resonated globally: Yoga is not just Indian heritage but it’s a path forward for global harmony. With mass participation, science-backed benefits, and cross-party support, Yoga Day 2025 marked a turning point for India’s soft power and a global call for wellness.
