19 Bengaluru Bars Booked: The Bengaluru City Police raided several eateries and bars in the city’s West Zone and uncovered multiple violations, including the “provocative” attire of female staff and breaches of excise, health, and other regulations.
Officials launched the raids after receiving reports of illegal activities at specific establishments. Acting on the tip-offs, the Bengaluru Police Commissioner directed the operation. Authorities formed eleven special police teams to conduct the investigation, while police stations in Upparpet, Cottonpet, Kalasipalya, Cubbon Park, and Ashoknagar took charge of overseeing the targeted pubs and eateries.
Violations Noticed in 19 Bengaluru Bars:
The police discovered that staff at 19 bars and restaurants violated the rules by employing women in “provocative” clothing who stood too close to patrons’ tables in an “indecent” manner. They also found additional violations, including the absence of authorized female security guards, unhygienic kitchen conditions, improperly designated smoking areas, and operating beyond permitted hours.

Police promptly penalized customers who violated the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA). They also forwarded reports to the respective police stations to initiate further legal action against the bar and restaurant owners.
Police Suggestions to People:
The police have urged the public to contact the helpline number or Namma 112 if they face any inconvenience or witness such violations. According to the press release cited by the newspaper, the authorities will keep the identities of informants confidential.
C Vamsi Krishna, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police, West Zone, and S Girish, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Division, led the 11 special police teams. These teams included officers and personnel from the Central and West Divisions.
