Kannappa First Review Out:
Kannappa is a Telugu mythological action film starring Vishnu Manchu. The film received an early review from one of India’s biggest superstars and that is Rajinikanth. The veteran actor watched the film in a private screening held on June 15, 2025 just days before its official release on June 27.
The screening turned out to be a special moment, as it was also the 30th anniversary of Pedarayudu, a 1995 film starring Mohan Babu and Rajinikanth. Sharing the emotional connection, producer Mohan Babu revealed that Rajinikanth watched Kannappa with his family and showered love and support for the team.
Taking to social media, Mohan Babu expressed heartfelt gratitude. He wrote that Rajinikanth’s appreciation left a lasting impact on him. His post also thanked his “best friend” Rajinikanth for taking time to watch the film and for his warm encouragement.
He wrote, “On June 15, Pedarayudu completed 30 glorious years since its theatrical release. And on the same day, my best friend @rajinikanth watched Kannappa along with his family. The love, warmth, and encouragement he gave after the film is something I will never forget.”
Vishnu Manchu who plays the lead role in Kannappa shared a emotional reaction. He posted on social media that Rajinikanth gave him a warm hug after the screening and praised the film. Vishnu said he had waited 22 years in his acting career for that one hug from Rajinikanth and called the moment humbling and unforgettable.
Kannappa tells the story of a tribal hunter who turns into a devoted follower of Lord Shiva and ultimately offers his eyes to the deity. It is a tale that represents supreme devotion and sacrifice. The movie features a stellar cast including Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar and Brahmanandam with special appearances from top stars like Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar and Kajal Aggarwal.
Director Mukesh Kumar Singh leads the film, while Twenty Four Frames Factory and AVA Entertainment handle the production. The team shot most of the scenes in New Zealand, adding a rich and grand visual appeal. Stephen Devassy composed the music, and the crew completed sound mixing at Annapurna Studios.
The team plans to open advance bookings for Kannappa on June 25 across Telugu-speaking regions. The film already generates strong buzz thanks to its mythological theme, emotional storytelling, and Rajinikanth’s early praise.
