Squid Game Season 3 is a savage return to form, full of surprising betrayals, catastrophic losses, and a very emotional conclusion. With fewer survivors and more psychological suffering than ever, this season’s games are more lethal than ever.

Dae-ho (Player 388), a former soldier and friend of Gi-hun, is the first significant death. Gi-hun unexpectedly kills him after a last-ditch effort to make it through the fresh “Hide and Seek” challenge.

An early death, the Shaman (Player 044) also perishes—mercilessly slain by Min-su under the influence of the hallucinogenic drugs injected into the game.

One of the most heartbreaking events of the season: Geum-ja (Player 007) is slain by her own mother, Yong-sik, who then takes her own life in depression.

A violent, updated version of Jump Rope causes pandemonium once more in the second game. Nam-gyu is flung off the bridge; Jun-hee (Player 222) gives her life as a result of a serious injury, hence saving her unborn child.

The last game, “Squid Game in the Sky,” turns into a terrible confrontation. Trying to protect his pregnant wife, Myung-gi (Player 333) passes away.

 Squid Game Season 3: No one survives

The biggest surprise comes at the end—Seong Gi-hun (Player 456) sacrifices himself to guarantee the survival of Jun-hee’s baby, now known as Baby 222, the only winner.

Season 3 finishes not with a triumph of strength or strategy, but with one of sacrifice and love. Though terrible, the deaths accentuate the main idea of the season: in a world founded on brutality, the most revolutionary act is love.
