‘Kannappa’: Vishnu Manchu Explains Why a Telugu Director Wasn’t Chosen

Kannappa is a film that has gained attention with the presence of guest stars including Prabhas, Akshay Kumar and Mohanlal. Vishnu Manju plays the title character in this pan-Indian film from Telugu. The film is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the director of the Mahabharata series on Star Plus channel. Kannappa is Mukesh Kumar’s debut as a film director. Why a director from Bollywood for such a big film in his career? Vishnu Manju gave the answer to this question during the success celebration of the film in Hyderabad.


Why a Telugu Director Wasn’t Chosen

Vishnu Manju’s reply was that no matter which directors in Tollywood he approached with the script of the movie, they would not agree. “My last few films did not do well at the box office. Mukesh Kumar Singh Kannappa performed well. Even though this was his debut as a film director, I completely believed in him. He is a hidden gem. I also want to bring such talents forward,” says Vishnu Manju.

Kannappa: Th star studded movie

The film, which contains the legend of Kannappa, a devotee of Shiva, is one with a devotional background. Kannappa takes the audience to the spiritual depths of devotion as well as the emotional levels on a large canvas. Kannappa is distributed in over 230 theaters in Kerala by Aashirvad Cinemas. The film is being produced under the banners of 24 Frames Factory and AVA Entertainments, owned by Mohan Babu.


 

The dialogues of Kannappa have been written by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Vishnu Manju and Mohan Babu. The film, starring Vishnu Manju, stars Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Preity Mukundan, Kajal Aggarwal, Sarath Kumar, Mohan Babu, Arpit Ranga and Kaushal Manda Devaraj in the lead roles.
