Apache AH-64E: Why Is It the Deadliest Attack Chopper?

Apache AH-64E: India will receive three of the six AH-64E Apache attack helicopters ordered for the Army by the end of this month, following a delay of nearly 15 months. The Indian Express reports that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh urged US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth during a phone call to expedite the supply of GE F404 engines and combat helicopters for the LCA Tejas, which prompted the delivery.

India signed a $600 million deal with the US in 2020 to acquire six additional Apache helicopters for the Army. This agreement followed India’s 2015 purchase of 22 Apaches for the Indian Air Force.

Delivery in Three Batches:

Boeing scheduled the delivery of three Apache helicopters for May and June 2024, but technical and supply chain issues delayed the shipment. News reports confirm that the Army will station all six new AH-64E Apache helicopters in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, to strengthen operations along Pakistan’s western front. The Army Aviation Corps formed the Apache squadron in Jodhpur in 2024 and has waited over 15 months to receive the helicopters.
