Amaal Malik Claims Kartik Aaryan is Next Sushant Singh Rajput of Bollywood

In a sudden and emotional comment, music director Amaal Mallik compared the actor Kartik Aaryan to late Sushant Singh Rajput with courage, calling Kartik the “next Sushant” when talking about dealing in the industry. The comment has sparked debate across social media, as insiders and fans have interpreted the similarities and celebrity pressures within Bollywood. While having a recent chat with the fans on social media, Amaal Mallik had replied to a fan’s response by making the comment, “Kartik is the next Sushant the way the industry is treating him.” He reaffirmed that despite Kartik having popularity and box-office success, he is often overshadowed by powerful industry lobbies.

This is not the first time Amaal has criticized nepotism and gatekeeping in the Hindi film industry. Popular for his no-nonsense views, the composer had no qualms about identifying what he believes to be biased practice in favor of self-made actors.

The Industry vs. The Outsiders?
Kartik Aaryan, like Sushant Singh Rajput, is a movie star who achieved success without any backing from being part of a film family. Starting with Pyaar Ka Punchnama and going on to experience consecutive box office hits, Kartik has gained himself a massive fan following. There have also been reports of him being dropped from big-banner movies, however, like one with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions—a controversy that stoked the insider-outsider controversy.

Amaal’s comparison brings attention to the mental and professional strain which most outsiders experience in the highly competitive, at times brutal cinema world.

One may or may not agree with the analogy, but Amaal Mallik’s comment highlights an age-old problem of fair treatment and mental wellbeing in the entertainment industry. With Kartik Aaryan still making a name for himself with diverse performances and commercial success, the question lingers: Will Bollywood change to accept talent as highly as it accepts relationships?
