Thammudu Box Office Collection Day 1: Thammudu, starring Nithiin and produced by Dil Raju, hit theatres with much anticipation on July 4. Directed by Sreeram Venu, the film created decent buzz with its intense trailer and star power. Titled after Pawan Kalyan’s cult classic, Thammudu was expected to be a strong comeback for Nithiin, who has been dealing with a streak of flops. Unfortunately, the film failed to live up to expectations.
Despite the hype, Thammudu opened to poor word of mouth and largely negative reviews. Early audience reactions were underwhelming, and the film struggled to connect with viewers. On its first day, the film managed to earn just ₹2 crore net worldwide a shocking figure considering Nithiin’s market potential and Dil Raju’s production backing. Critics and fans alike pointed fingers at the lacklustre narrative and over-the-top action sequences.
While the film faltered in storytelling, Varsha Bollama emerged as a silver lining. Her sincere performance stood out and was appreciated by audiences. In contrast, debutante Sapthami Gowda, making her Telugu debut, faced criticism for her overly dramatic acting. The biggest letdown, however, was director Sreeram Venu’s execution, which many felt lacked clarity and emotional depth.
Despite the theatrical failure, Thammudu has found a home on OTT. Netflix has acquired the digital rights, and the film is expected to premiere by early August 2025. If theatrical collections remain weak, the OTT release could be preponed. With the weekend ahead, there is a slight hope for recovery, but the outlook remains grim.
Thammudu’s underwhelming start is a major setback for Nithiin and his fans. Unless the film sees a surprising turn in the coming days, it is likely to be added to the list of his recent disappointments.
