Alia Bhatt Ex-Assistant Arrested: Juhu Police has arrested Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt’s former private secretary Vedhika Shetty in a case of fraud of Rs 76.9 lakh. Vedhika, worked as Alia’s secretary from 2021 to 2024 and was arrested from Bengaluru after being absconding for about five months.
The case was registered after Alia’s mother, actress and director Soni Razdan. She filed a complaint in January this year and the case alleges that Vedhika embezzled money from Alia’s personal accounts and her production company Eternal Sunshine Productions Pvt. Ltd. while working as her private secretary from May 2022 to August 2024.
Police said that the fraud was committed by creating fake bills for travel expenses, meetings, etc. and obtaining Alia’s signature. These invoices were prepared using various apps to make them look genuine.
After getting Alia’s signature, the money was transferred to a friend’s bank account and from there to Vedika’s account. “It has not yet been established that only Vedika received the money back from her friend’s account and that no one else was involved in this amount,” said a senior officer at Juhu police station.
After receiving the complaint, Vedika went into hiding and lived in Rajasthan, Karnataka and Pune and the police finally caught her from Bengaluru. After her arrest, Vedika was brought to Mumbai on a five-day transit remand and remanded in police custody till July 10. A case has been registered under sections 316(4) (criminal breach of trust) and 318(4) (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.
