Mrs Undercover: When we think of spy thrillers, iconic Hollywood franchises like James Bond often come to mind. But Indian filmmakers are now crafting equally gripping stories, layered with suspense, unexpected twists, and culturally rooted themes. One such standout film is Mrs Undercover, a Hindi-language spy comedy-thriller released in 2023 and now streaming on ZEE5.

Directed by Anushree Mehta, Mrs Undercover tells the story of Durga, an unassuming housewife who once served as an elite undercover agent. Played by Radhika Apte, Durga leads a quiet life in Kolkata with her husband Deb (Saheb Chatterjee), her son, and her in-laws. Unknown to them, her past hides secrets that are about to resurface.

A Mission Rekindled:
When a serial killer known as The Common Man (Sumeet Vyas) begins targeting independent women, Special Forces Chief Rangeela (Rajesh Sharma) seeks Durga’s help. Despite being out of the field for 13 years, she agrees to return to her former life after some persuasion.

As part of her mission, Durga joins a women’s empowerment program at Kolkata Girls College, where the killer works undercover as a professor. There, she befriends Ayesha (Roshni Bhattacharya), a student who shockingly plans to murder Durga’s husband.
