Unconventional Wedding: Rich Girl Fell In Love With Driver Due To His Gear-Shifting Style

In an unconventional love story, a 17-year-old girl from Pakistan, Khatija, married her 21-year-old driver because she was impressed with how he shifted gears in his vehicle. In an interview with Daily Pakistan, the story is heartwarming given the nature for its charm and for its beginnings, noting that even romance can start at unexpected moments!

The story began when Khatija’s father hired a young man to equip his daughter with a few driving lessons. What started as a driving exercise in Lahore soon became extraordinary. While Khatija was not able to master the art of driving, she did become enchanted with her drivers skill with the gear stick! She marveled at how smoothly and confidently, he shifted gears. Each time they rode together, her attraction grew. “I was actually mesmerized by the way he changed gears,” said Khatija as she recounted how their daily interactions turned into a fondness for each other.

With lessons continuing, Khatija’s appreciation and admiration transitioned into love. She suggested that she was even a little ‘giddy’ and considered holding his hand while shifting the gears in a driving scenario. As they were completing driving lessons together, their passion turned into a relationship void of societal norms.

The couple’s chemistry was obvious, despite their age difference and quirky beginning, it was clearly meant to be and they got married. During a Daily Pakistan interview, Khatija has a sweet moment in which she dedicated a Bollywood classic to her husband: Hum Tum Ek Kamre Mein Band Ho Aur Chabi Kho Jaye from the movie Bobby (1973). The song has a fun and romantic lilt that fits their offbeat love story, suiting their situation with an air of nostalgia.

This story is unique not only in its unconventional origins, but also in its celebration of love’s fate. Khatija’s father wanted her to learn driving, but fate drove the couple down a different path towards a long journey together. Their story reminds us that love can spark at the most innocent moments and sometimes even at the shift of a gear.
