Women must not overlook five significant subtle signs of ovarian cancer – a potentially lethal, but difficult diagnosis based on its vague symptoms. Experts in cancer care have pointed out that ovarian cancer is serious because it can be hard to detect if not diagnosed early.
According to Cancer Research, between 2017 and 2019, more than 7,000 women were diagnosed with ovarian cancer annually, resulting in more than 4,000 deaths annually. The majority of women diagnosed (65%) with ovarian cancer do not survive within a decade. If you notice the below mentioned warning signs of ovarian cancer could lead to early detection.
Chronic Stomach Pain
Chronic or unusual abdominal or tummy pain could mean you have ovarian cancer. Doctors and researchers explain that the pain might feel like period cramping, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). If the pain is new, acute, or different from your usual pain you should not blow it off, but see a doctor to determine what is causing the pain.
Continuous Bloating
If the bloating is persistent, particularly after eating, that could be yet another sign. That uncomfortable feeling when your stomach feels full or when your clothes feel tight? That’s worth talking to someone about. Doctors that work with cancer patients say that persistent bloating is not normal and could be a sign of something more serious like ovarian cancer.
Noticing changes in your appetite
If you suddenly found that you feel full quickly, or have lost your appetite for strange reasons, consider this. Doctors say, this experience where meals are difficult to finish, or you do not feel hungry like you used to. Even this can be a sign of ovarian cancer. So, if this is new for you, do not ignore it!
Going to the bathroom more often
Are you going to the bathroom more than you used to? Especially, if this is unusual for you? This could be another heads up call. A growing tumor can press on your bladder, which will make you feel the need to go more often. If there is no explanation for this increase, [such as drinking more water], see a doctor!
