Tollywood Senior actor Rajendra Prasad’s speech at the Hari Katha pre-release event sparked a social media debate over the evolution of heroism in Telugu cinema.

Rajendra Prasad recently attended Hari Katha pre-release event and expressed his thoughts on the changing concept of a hero in Indian cinema. He has indirectly criticised Allu Arjun’s character and the theme of the film at an event. Actor Rajendra Prasad took objection to glorifying the character of Allu Arjun who plays the role of Sandalwood Smuggler in Pushpa.

Actor took a jibe by not referring to the Actor or the film directly. This came as a shocker for all. He pointed out that the traditional image of heroes has evolved significantly, stating, “In today’s films, a sandalwood thief is shown as a hero” a comment that indicatively referenced Allu Arjun’s character in Pushpa, who engages in red sandalwood smuggling.

Rajendra Prasad said that earlier films were typically portrayed heroes as positive figures, while antagonists faced consequences by the end of the story. Despite this, many believe that his comments were not meant to target specific films but rather to observe the evolving trends in cinema. He emphasized that modern hero characters often blend both flaws and strengths, reflecting the tastes of present audiences.

Earlier, Allu Arjun’s uncle, Pawan Kalyan too indirectly objected the glorifying red sandlewood smuggling. In a public interaction Pawan Kalyan said that earlier heroes used to save forest but now it is different with them destroying it. This comment became a controversy then and many people felt that Pawan Kalyan was referring to Pushpa which falls in this theme’s category. Now, Rajendra Prasad’s words follow Pawan Kalyan’s comments.
