CTRL Director Slams Pushpa 2 for Leaving No Screen Space. Vikramaditya Motwane, the director of CTRL, took to his Instagram account to draw attention to the fact that Pushpa 2 was receiving more screenings in a single day than the highly regarded All We Imagine As Light. One of Bollywood’s most outspoken directors, Vikramaditya Motwane has already expressed his opinions on movies and the motion picture business honestly. He recently voiced his displeasure with multiplexes for showing Pushpa 2 (starring Allu Arjun) more than once in a single day while neglecting All We Imagine As Light (starring Payal Kapadia), which received high praise.
Vikramaditya Motwane posted a screenshot of multiplex schedules displaying Pushpa 2’s numerous screenings in one day on his Instagram stories. However, All We Imagine As Light has very few if any, showings at various multiplexes.
He captioned it, writing, “And yet, Payal’s incredible success will mean nothing to us because we will throw her film out, not let it breathe or find an audience, and will have 36 shows a day of one film in a single multiplex. Congratulations. We deserve this (sic).”
Later, he posted another screen grab of a news article in which an insider revealed that theaters were asked not to show any more movies. He captioned it, writing, “Ah, the plot thickens… Not that we should start feeling sorry for our favorite multiplex chain (yeah, you know the one). The irony of them being strong-armed after they’ve done the exact same thing in the past multiple times to producers is just.”
He added that the film business will suffer greatly if this trend continues. No one should be able to control multiplexes and every major motion picture will follow suit.
This debate follows after Payal Kapadia’s ‘All We Imagine As Light’ faces issues. The movie made the nation proud. It received Golden Globe nominations for Best Director—Motion Picture and Best Motion Picture in a Non-English Language. But no OTT platforms were ready to buy the film.
