Dhanush has officially begun filming his 54th feature, currently titled D54. The shoot started in Chennai on July 10 with a traditional pooja ceremony. Director Vignesh Raja, known for the crime hit Por Thozhil, is leading the project. Backed by Vels Film International, the first look of the film shows Dhanush standing in a scorched field with smoke rising behind him. The film reunites Dhanush with GV Prakash Kumar, his long-time music collaborator. Theni Eswar is the cinematographer, bringing his sharp lens to this action thriller. Sreejith Sarang handles editing, while Vignesh Raja co-writes the film with Alfred Prakash. The buzz grew stronger with the rumored casting of Mamitha Baiju, the Premalu star, as the female lead. Other major names include Jayaram, KS Ravikumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Karunas. The team is currently filming across Tamil Nadu, keeping story details tightly under wraps.
Producer Dr. Ishari K Ganesh called the project “truly special.” He praised the collaboration between Dhanush, Raja, and GV Prakash.
