The movie follows Vaani, a bright, endearing girl who receives an early-onset Alzheimer’s diagnosis just as her relationship deepens with Krish, a brooding musician carrying a troubled past. Fans point out the strangely specific plot and allege that it resembles the 2004 Korean film A Moment to Remember, which made audiences sob into their ramen.

Saiyaara plays the same depressing melody as the Korean drama directed by John H. Lee, known for its tragic portrayal of love under the shadow of memory loss. Detectives on Twitter (also known as X) have already started comparing scenes and find the similarities hard to ignore.

Audience Reaction to This Claim?

The creators have remained silent while the internet accuses the film of being a rip-off. Sankalp Sadanah and Suri wrote the screenplay, and earlier buzz even suggested that Saiyaara served as a spiritual sequel to Aashiqui 2. At some point, they shifted the narrative to focus on a “contemporary” Indian love story.

Media sources reported that a crew member confirmed the film is not a remake but an inspired story drawn from a Korean movie. Viewers now understand that Indian audiences, especially K-drama fans, cannot be easily misled. Regardless, the film has gone viral thanks to its soundtrack and emotional portrayal of Gen Z romance. While the story draws inspiration from a Korean film, the makers have not copied it frame by frame.
