In comparison, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, which launched Ameesha Patel and Hrithik Roshan, drew slightly more than 3 crore viewers in India. Its inflation-adjusted domestic gross now sits at around ₹600 crore. Despite its popularity, Saiyaara has attracted only about 50 lakh viewers in India so far. The film is expected to cross the 2 crore mark soon, but reaching 3 crore may prove challenging. However, in the current post-pandemic era, even that would mark a significant achievement.

Viewers in Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, many of them non-Indians, flocked to theaters despite the absence of subtitles, making the film a massive hit. Analysts estimate Bobby’s inflation-adjusted overseas gross to range between ₹600 and ₹800 crore, though figures may vary. No other Indian film starring debutants has matched its international success.

Bobby earned an incredible ₹11 crore at the Indian box office. Two years later, Sholay surpassed it by collecting ₹15 crore. Ten years after that, Disco Dancer broke Bobby’s international record.
