The makers took their social media handles and posted a poster featuring Mardaani 3 title and release date. They captioned the post “The wait is over! #RaniMukerji is back as the fierce Shivani Shivaji Roy in #Mardaani3. In cinemas 2026.” You read it right, the film will come to you in 2026 featuring Rani Mukerji as Shivani Shivaji Roy.
The crime action film Mardaani first released in 2014 features Rani Mukerji in the lead role as fierce cop Shivani Shivaji Roy. Produced by Yash Raj Films, and made with a small budget, the film collected huge amounts making it a super hit. Mardaani life lifetime collections stood at 59.55 crores at the worldwide box office made with just 21 crores. Mardaani story delves into Shivani Shivaji Roy, Senior Inspector, Crime Branch, Mumbai Police, sets out to confront the mastermind behind a child trafficking mafia.
After 4 years, in 2019 Rani Mukerji came back with Mardaani 2 reprising her role as Shivani Shivaji Roy. Made with a budget of Rs 27 crore, the film made a massive Rs 67.12 crore in its lifetime. The film follows A 21-year-old boy named Sunny, who comes to the city on a murder contract. When he locks horns with Shivani Shivaji Roy, the newly appointed Chief of the city police, a thrilling cat-and-mouse hunt begins.
