Vidya Balan Reacts to Deepika Padukone’s Exit:

“I Think That’s Fair”: Vidya Balan on Flexible Hours
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Vidya Balan acknowledged the importance of accommodating new mothers in the workplace.

” There is conversation about how mothers need to have an option to work for fewer hours, flexible hours, right? And I think that’s fair,” said.

She emphasized that many industries are already adopting such practices to retain talent and support women during early motherhood. According to Vidya, the film industry should follow suit to avoid losing out on valuable contributors.

Acknowledging Her Own Privilege
Vidya also reflected on her personal situation, noting that she was not a mother, and hence had more flexibility in her schedule.

“With the kind of films that I do, we cannot afford to shoot only for eight hours. And I am not a mother, so I have all the time in the world to be doing a 12-hour shift,” she explained.

Her candid remarks highlight the need for individualized approaches to scheduling, rather than one-size-fits-all expectations.
