AP Government Allows Ticket Hike for Kingdom Movie

Ticket Hike for Kingdom Movie: In a big boost to upcoming Telugu film Kingdom, the Andhra Pradesh government has approved a hike in cinema ticket prices for a limited period. The decision comes just ahead of the movie’s release on July 31, 2025. Suryadevara Nagavamsi, producer at Sithara Entertainments, had formally requested the hike. Following this, the State Home Department issued a memo on July 23, granting permission for increased rates across all theatres in Andhra Pradesh.

As per the order, theatres can charge ₹50 (including GST) for single screens and ₹75 (including GST) for multiplexes. These rates will be applied over and above the usual prices mentioned in the government order No.13, dated March 7, 2022. The revised prices will be the same in effect for coming 10 days from the date of release of Kingdom.

This short-term increase is intended to meet the anticipated spike in demand for the expensive movie, which has already generated a lot of attention online. The government’s approval also represents a rare endorsement of increased price, which is only given in exceptional cases and following a thorough analysis.

Principal Secretary to the Government, Kumar Vishwajeet, directed district collectors, joint collectors, licensing authorities, and police commissioners to implement the order immediately.

Industry insiders believe this move signals growing government support for big Telugu releases. Kingdom, backed by a top-tier production house and starring major Tollywood names, is one of the most anticipated releases this season. The decision also reflects a balancing act between entertainment revenue and regulated pricing. Whether this hike boosts box-office collections remains to be seen, but the green signal has certainly added to the film’s hype.
