Uric Acid Symptoms: Signs Your Body Has High Levels

Uric Acid Symptoms: In modern times, uric acid levels are rising among young people. This condition is known as hyperuricemia. When the body produces excessive uric acid and fails to excrete it through urine, the excess begins to accumulate. As a result, high uric acid levels can lead to problems such as kidney stones, joint pain, kidney damage, and gout.

Everyone’s body naturally produces uric acid. However, it should remain at low levels. Those who produce it in large amounts are more likely to face health issues sooner. When uric acid builds up in the body, it often shows through certain symptoms.

❂ Symptoms caused by uric acid:
One of the most common symptoms of high uric acid is sudden joint pain. The pain often feels intense and typically affects the big toe. This symptom is considered a sign of gout. Moreover, if the pain increases suddenly, especially at night, you should consult a doctor immediately. This pain occurs when uric acid crystals form in the joints. Consequently, inflammation increases in the body, mainly affecting the big toe. In some cases, severe pain can also appear in the ankles, knees, and other toes.
In this situation, it is very important to check your uric acid levels with the help of a doctor. Apart from that, if you feel some swelling around your joints, and also if you feel redness or warmth. It is also another sign of the uric acid levels in your body. It is advised to consult a doctor as soon as possible if you feel these symptoms.

❂ Nighttime urination:
Frequent urination at night is another concern. The kidneys work harder to remove excess uric acid, which leads to more frequent urination. In addition, if your urine smells bad, appears dark, or contains blood, high uric acid may be the reason. If untreated, this condition may cause serious kidney issues.

❂ Muscle stiffness:
If you are feeling or suffering from muscle stiffness and pain, then there is a high chance of having high uric acid, which makes your daily movements difficult. If you notice such stiffness, it is advisable to consult a doctor. In some individuals, the skin may peel like scales and become itchy. Itchy bumps may also appear around the joints. These symptoms occur when uric acid crystals accumulate under the skin. In some cases, small hard lumps may be visible. All these signs point to excessive uric acid buildup.

Just for safety, it is advised to check your uric acid levels once in a while if you have a mild fever or any other illness. Mild fever, joint inflammation, and swelling can further increase uric acid accumulation. Therefore, if you experience any of these symptoms, it is important to consult a doctor and seek appropriate treatment.
