July 29 brought an unexpected delight “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2” premiered alongside Anupamaa on Star Plus. Fans began comparing Tulsi Virani and Anupamaa, but Rupali Ganguly saw something else: a rare, emotional crossover. She described Kyunki’s return as a wave of shared memories entering the present.
“How Can You Compare?” Rupali on the Comparison Craze
In an interview, Rupali called the buzz “unfair.” She said Kyunki represents nostalgia, and its return to the same channel feels like a moment of collective pride. “I don’t understand how anyone can compare Anupamaa with Kyunki,” she added, and praised Ektaa Kapoor for her gracious remarks about the show and its stars.
Producer Ektaa Kapoor confronted the speculation head-on in a conversation with Brut: “I saw videos saying Anupamaa was facing issues because Kyunki is coming. That felt very bad,” she said.
She praised Rupali as “such a big star,” and hailed Anupamaa and its creator Rajan Shahi for achieving unmatched success over seven years. “They will continue to be number one. They should continue to be number one,” Ektaa emphasized. She added, “We came to tell our story, not to compete. These comparisons between lead characters or shows are totally unnecessary… pitting women or content against each other is uncalled for”
