Venkitesh: The action drama film Kingdom, directed by Gautham Thinnanuri and starring Vijay Deverakonda, was released on July 31. Malayalam actor Venkitesh went viral on social media as soon as the trailer of the film was released. The actor will be seen playing the villain in the film.
“I don’t know exactly how I got into the film Kingdom. An associate director named Ravi found my photo somewhere and showed it to Gautham sir. I was selected for the film without auditioning. And is a great thing to be a part of such a big project. It is a great joy to be in such an important role from Malayalam to Telugu.”
I got a great response. I have never had such an experience in my life. It was not what I expected at all. I am very grateful to all the audiences, received a lot of support when the trailer was released. It is a great joy for me to have entered the film field as a junior artist and to have my photos and videos shared by people. There are many people who wish and pray for me to win. It is something I have always wanted for one of my films to be released in theatres and for people to applaud my scenes. I am happy that I got that through this film.
To be a villain in one of Gautham sir’s films is an event in itself. It was a new experience. This is not my first negative character. I started out with villainism. I was a negative character in the film Stand Up, and I had a slightly toxic nature in Priest. I was also a villain in the Tamil film Rebel. Only in the film Veda did I do something good. I am a villain with strong depth in Kingdom.
I did not need much preparation for the character. I would learn the Telugu dialogues without watching them. It was difficult at first. I just listened to what the director said. I did a film in Telugu before. It was not released. I did not learn Telugu. But I know a base. I do not have a great grasp of grammar. He would tell me how to modulate and pronounce each word. I would speak it in my own way. The entire team was very supportive. I did not have any difficulty in anything. It was very comfortable. Whole Team Thank you.
I am very lucky to have been able to share the screen with him. Kitilam is a human being, Kitilam is an actor. We have combination scenes between us. He also complimented my performance. I cannot even describe the way he treated me. If I get a chance to act with him again, I will go. He has kept me that well.
I have been an Anirudh fan since the beginning. My face appearing on the track of the person who does BGM for my brother Rajinikanth is a dream come true moment. I have only seen him on stage. He used to talk and praise me then. My Kitilam intro is in the film on Anirudh’s track.
Mom liked the film a lot. I went to see the film at Aries Plex Theatre in Thiruvananthapuram. I don’t know Telugu. I saw the Tamil version. People came there to watch the film in a good way. There was a lot of applause. They gave good comments. A video of Mom watching the trailer went viral. I am very happy. This is what I wanted to give to my mother. There was a lot of support from my friends. Apart from acting in a Telugu film, no one knew that it was such a big role.
The support, love and recognition that I am getting today is all I wanted. I do every work with the hope that everything will work out one day. But this has reached me. I am surprised. I pay attention to the support on social media. I watch the videos and stories. I owe a lot to everyone.
We, five friends, started a small venture called Sut Sut Idli in Thiruvananthapuram. That too is progressing well. I will be there when I am not working. We do everything ourselves. Now my friends are running it beautifully.
