YRF Spy Universe Timeline: It’s Bollywood’s ambitious attempt to match the interlinked franchise of Hollywood, the MCU, with possibly Yash Raj Films at the helm, and some of the most viewed superstars of India, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and now, NTR. The universe is made of stylish espionage thrillers, high-octane action, and crossover character arcs.
Now, if we try to deconstruct the timeline so far to slot War 2 in:
Ek Tha Tiger (2012) – The journey begins with RAW agent Tiger, played by Salman Khan, and his partner, Zoya, who is played by Katrina Kaif.
Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) – A direct sequel to see this couple on their continued mission to save hostages somewhere in Iraq.
War (2019) – The introduction of Kabir, a renegade Indian agent, played by Hrithik Roshan, and Khalid played by Tiger Shroff.
Pathaan (2023) – The initial entry of Shah Rukh Khan as the spy Pathaan that saw a cameo from Salman Khan. That idea about crossover was confirmed.
Tiger 3 (2023) – Pathaan and Tiger unite once again, hinting at a larger universe.
If everything goes as expected War 2 will speak after Pathaan and Tiger 3. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, it is evident that the film would mostly be a sequel to the story of Kabir (Hrithik Roshan), but with NTR Jr. being roped in for a key role- possibly as antagonist or rival agent. Storyline is kept under wraps for now, however, insiders hint that War 2 will be a crucial connecting point between previous spy sagas and those in the pipeline with crossover events.

War 2 lays the foundation for a convoluted ensemble film in the long term: Kabir, Tiger, and Pathaan gearing up to take on a common enemy. It doesn’t also just stop at being a sequel; it goes on further to make this franchise a turning point with the inclusion of South Indian star power, heightened interest in a possible Spy Universe against face-off.
In short, War 2 is not just another chapter; it is history’s link to future battle stories.
