The legal thriller features Anupama Parameswaran in one of the strongest characters she has ever portrayed. The show will stream on ZEE5 from August 15, 2025, right in time for Independence Day. Theatrical Journey: Drama On and Off Screen:

Pravin Narayanan has directed the movie about Janaki, a victim of sexual assault. Who dares to take the law into her own hands in the case of getting justice. Suresh Gopi is Janaki’s battle-hardened lawyer, but it is Anupama’s performance as the emotionally scarred but fiery Janaki which is now being put to test.

Now that the film is headed for OTT, all eyes are keen on whether Anupama can impress OTT just as (or even better than) she didn’t impress in theatres.

The film was ostensibly set for release in June 2025, and major backlash began from the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) against the title and religious references. Soon after came the innumerable rigmarole in the courts and about ninety-six suggested edits. The title was finally changed to Janaki V vs State of Kerala, and only a couple of muted lines stood the test of censorship.

The movie finally hit theaters on July 17, garnering a mixed response.
