BTS is making waves with an exciting new project, reportedly recording an unreleased Michael Jackson song for an upcoming tribute album. The K-pop supergroup has collaborated with Grouse Lodge Studios in Ireland, where Jackson worked on a project in 2006. This project, once dubbed “The Next Thriller,” was never completed before his passing in 2009.
Paddy Dunning, of Grouse Lodge Studios, confirmed the collaboration in a recent statement. He revealed that BTS was among the artists contributing to the album. “The sessions began last year, and BTS recorded one of the songs written specifically for Michael,” Dunning explained. The album will feature tracks originally crafted for Jackson by notable collaborators, including producer Rodney Jerkins and rapper Nephew.
The news has sent both fans into a frenzy. One fan on X (formerly Twitter) said, “This is the most iconic crossover since moonwalk met mic drop.” Another fan added, “If true, this is insane, BTS honoring Michael Jackson in their biggest hit and now recording one of his songs.” The excitement is palpable, with many commenting that Michael would have been proud to see BTS continuing his legacy.
This isn’t the first time BTS has paid tribute to Michael Jackson. Their hit single “Dynamite” was also seen as an homage to the King of Pop. With this new project, BTS is cementing their connection to the music legend, further solidifying their place in music history.

In addition to the tribute album, BTS is working on their first album in four years, scheduled for release next spring. The seven-member group, including RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, began production in the U.S. this July. The new album will be their first as a full group since 2022’s Proof.
