Rukmini Vasanth Shines as Kanakavathi in Kantara Chapter 1

Rukmini Vasanth: Fans highly anticipate Kantara: Chapter 1, which will feature actor Rukmini Vasanth in a key role. On Friday, the makers released a new poster on social media, showing Rukmini in traditional attire. Actor Rishab Shetty announced her addition to the cast on X (formerly Twitter).


He wrote, “Introducing @rukminitweets as ‘Kanakavathi’ from the world of #KantaraChapter1. See you in theaters on October 2.” Rukmini and the makers also shared the multilingual poster across platforms. The poster shows Rukmini, who plays Kanakavathi, smiling inside a palace. She wears a crimson and green saree adorned with heavy jewelry, highlighting the regal essence of her character.

Hombale Films, the production house, recently announced the completion of filming. In a statement, they wrote, “Deeply ingrained in our culture, #KantaraChapter1 has been a miraculous journey made possible by unflinching dedication, unrelenting hard work, and amazing teamwork. We’re excited to bring this iconic story to the big screen on October 2, worldwide.”

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 serves as a precursor to the wildly popular 2022 film Kantara. The original movie earned over Rs 400 crore worldwide and became a massive hit. Rishab Shetty directed the film, worked with a budget of Rs 16 crore, and also played the lead role. His performance in Kantara earned him the National Award for Best Actor.

The story unfolds in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, where a Kambala champion, the protagonist, confronts an honest forest range officer. Rukmini Vasanth made her film industry debut in 2019 with the Birbal Trilogy. Since then, she has acted alongside Vijay Sethupathi in several films, including Sapta Sagaradaache ElloUpstarts, and Ace. The makers plan to release Kantara: Chapter 1 in theaters on October 2.
