Dalit Youth: Men connected to senior YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) politician Bhumana Karunakar Reddy are accused of kidnapping and beating a Dalit youth in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, in an instance of caste violence.

According to police, Anil Reddy, a known criminal and the personal driver of former YSRCP MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, and his accomplice Dinesh attacked Pawan Kumar, a member of the Mala (SC) community who lived in Pulicharla, on Wednesday. The two allegedly beat Pawan with lathis, confined him in a room, and recorded the attack. In what authorities believe to be intimidating conduct, the film was subsequently forwarded to Pawan’s father, Neelam Jayaraju.

Initial reports state that the incident happened while the accused was at the office of Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, who was also said to have his son, Abhinay Reddy, there. Dinesh and Anil Reddy’s involvement was confirmed by Tirupati East DSP Bhakta Vatsalam. Anil, the owner of SVB Bike Riders and Rentals and the subject of six criminal charges, was previously taken into custody. Following Anil’s questioning, another suspect, Jaggareddy, also known as Jagadish, was taken into jail.

An argument over a rented motorcycle sparked the attack, which turned into a vicious act of caste-based violence that was allegedly fueled by political influence. The attack resulted in Pawan’s release. The remaining defendants are being sought by police.
