Meow Alert: Celebrating World Cat Day, Time to Honour the True Royals

Today, August 8, is World Cat Day, an observance in celebration of all things feline. We recognize this day every year, but the first observance was in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) to recognize the importance of cats, cat welfare, and the necessity of protecting and caring for cats.

Today’s cats, unlike their wild ancestors, will never be seen hunting; they are now comfortable sleeping on your bedside, couch, or even your computer desk. And their days are spent naps, stretches, and ruling the internet.

Yes, modern cats have become celebrities. From viral reels to moments that have been turned into memes, their quirky behavior, adorable facial expressions, and irresistible personalities have fully taken over social media platforms. They’re not just cats anymore, they’re ‘Cat Sirs’ and ‘Cat Madams’ ruling the digital world and our households.

World Cat Day serves as a reminder to appreciate and care for these intelligent and independent creatures.
