Actor Aditi Rao Hydari will receive the Diversity in Cinema Award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2025. The festival will celebrate her wide-ranging contributions to Indian cinema, from commercial blockbusters to indie films, and across languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
Aditi has consistently taken on layered, powerful roles, navigating both OTT platforms and theatrical releases. Her ability to bring depth and nuance to diverse characters has earned her a loyal audience and critical acclaim.
The award recognises Aditi’s role in shaping inclusive and progressive storytelling. She has portrayed strong women and complex characters in films that span multiple genres. The Diversity in Cinema Award is a highlight of IFFM, honouring artists who break barriers and promote representation on screen.
Reacting to the announcement, Aditi said, “It is such a special honour to be part of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne as a Guest of Honour. To be celebrated in a city that celebrates cinema with such passion is deeply humbling.”
Festival director Mitu Bhowmik Lange called Aditi “the epitome of grace and excellence” and praised her versatility as an artist.
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne is one of the largest celebrations of Indian cinema outside India. The 2025 edition will feature film screenings, discussions, and award ceremonies. Aditi’s presence is expected to add star power to the event.

Aditi Rao Hydari played the role of Bibbojaan, a courtesan in pre-independence India, in her last appearance in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. She will next take on roles in Parivarik ManuRanjan and Lioness, a British-Indian historical drama.
