ChatGPT Saved Life: A 60-year-old man narrowly escaped death after seeking advice from Chat GTP on how to reduce salt in his diet for health reasons. A 60-year-old man named Ben was hospitalized after hearing that salt in food makes the body tired and that it is better to avoid it. The 60-year-old asked Chat GTP what he should do to reduce salt in his diet. Chat GTP suggested sodium bromide to Ben.
This was reported in the Journal of the American College of Physicians.Sodium bromide was used in various medicines in the 1900s, but was avoided after it was found to be highly toxic. Ben, who considered Chat GTP’s suggestion, ordered sodium bromide online. He consumed sodium bromide for three months according to the diet plan provided by Chat GTP. Ben, who had no mental or physical problems before, soon began to slur his words, hear voices that were not there, and behave abnormally.
With this, his relatives took him to the hospital. During 24-hour observation, he refused to even drink water. He argued that drinking water would be life-threatening. A detailed examination conducted later revealed that Ben had been poisoned by bromide. Later, doctors brought the 60-year-old back to normal life after giving him a drip and electrolytes for three weeks. Doctors clarified that the public should not use artificial intelligence like Chat GPT for health reasons and should seek expert services.
