Coolie & War 2: With Independence Day (August 15), Sri Krishna Janmashtami, and Sunday (August 17) falling in the same week, the extended holiday period promises to give a major boost to the box office. Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Hrithik Roshan–Jr NTR’s War 2, both pan-India releases, will compete head-to-head. The star power behind these films has driven anticipation to a fever pitch. Both teams have intensified promotions to capitalise on the festive rush and will release their films on August 14.

Industry buzz ranks expectations for Coolie higher than for War 2. Adding to the hype, several companies declared holidays for employees, booked tickets in bulk, and sent staff to watch the films. However, a sudden red alert during this crucial window threatens to deal a serious blow to both films’ prospects.

The challenge comes in two parts: heavy rains have already lashed the region, and the Meteorological Department has warned of very heavy rainfall in Telangana over the next 36 hours. If the forecast proves accurate, the rains will drastically reduce audience turnout. Analysts predict that War 2 will suffer more, as early trends show it already struggles in cooler weather conditions. Both film teams now watch anxiously to see how the situation unfolds.

Coolie Highlights:
Coolie, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, features music by Anirudh Ravichander. Shruti Haasan plays the female lead, while Nagarjuna takes on the villain’s role. The film also boasts an ensemble cast including Aamir Khan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Upendra, with Pooja Hegde appearing in a special song.
